I love when different states make commercials and advertisements for themselves. Michigan’s might be my favorite. They’re like tiny trailers for movies I really want to see.
This is what I made today after working 8 hours of data entry without sunlight. That shit gets to you after a while, you know?
I don’t know what it is about summer that sends me back to the 90s, but today I watched three episodes of Buffy and listened to Collective Soul for an hour.
Today I woke up to the sound of my dad’s voice downstairs. I ate breakfast with my brother and my dog next to the flowers my other brother left for my mom. We picked up my grandma and headed west to my uncle’s house Minooka where I kayaked down the river with my brother. We kayaked back as the sun was setting and walked back up to the house with dirt up to our ankles. We ate too much of my uncle’s blueberry pie. On the drive home my brother and I fell asleep with the windows down. The perfect way to begin a summer.
My mother always knew I was bound for believing in the imaginary, asking my dad too many questions (why is the moon always following me?), covering my walls in images that I would someday build my life around, spending afternoons covered in paint, and filling up journals and then filling up the trash cans with them, and she never threw me down the stairs.
